Ensuring any dancer with desire to study ballet has the opportunity
Founded with a dedication to excellence and diversity, Berkeley Ballet Theater’s mission is to provide professional-level ballet training to dancers of any age, race, gender, or socioeconomic class, with the goal of breaking down the narrow, monochromatic aesthetic traditional to ballet.
BBT’s Tuition Assistance program is part of this mission and is designed to provide ongoing support to families in need of assistance for their student(s) to continue studying ballet, or to provide elevated, single-time assistance to families whose financial circumstances have unexpectedly shifted.
Students in the Youth Division are eligible to apply for Tuition Assistance. Awards are determined based on a family’s level of need as outlined in Federal Poverty Level guidelines and could provide support in the following categories:
Students in Levels 1-4 are eligible for up to 25% assistance for tuition, summer workshops, and performance fees
Students in Levels 5-8 are eligible for up to 50% assistance for tuition, summer workshops, Youth Company, and performance fees
Families with students in any level of the Youth Division who are experiencing unexpected, short-term financial challenges are eligible for up to 60% support for tuition and fees. Families who are granted this additional support will not be eligible to receive it for consecutive years.
Applying families must enroll for the school year and make one tuition payment from the available payment plans BBT provides.
Families interested in applying for Tuition Assistance should fill out the accompanying application form and provide a copy of the family’s most recent 1040 tax return. Completed applications, including supporting documents, need to be returned to the BBT Office on or before October 1, 2018. Please feel free to contact Ali Taylor Lange in the office with any questions you have at 925-402-1073 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
