Contemporary and classical ballet classes, dance film workshops (Levels 3–6), and contemporary ballet intensives (Levels 7–9) are available for dancers ages 6–21 years.

If you are new to BBT, welcome! Placement is required for Youth Division programming. Please reach out to School Manager Jenna Marie at jennam@berkeleyballet.org to schedule a placement class for your dancer.
Contemporary Ballet Workshop: Dancing Beyond
This intensive workshop is designed for pre-professional ballet dancers ages 13–21 who seek to strengthen their ballet technique, expand their movement vocabulary, and enrich their artistic practice. The workshop is open to all dancers placed in Berkeley Ballet’s Youth Division Levels 7–9 classes (2024–25 Season), as well as dancers from outside programs and institutions; please contact BBT School Manager Jenna Marie with placement inquiries: jennam@berkeleyballet.org
This workshop features daily ballet and pointe or batterie technique classes taught by Berkeley Ballet’s celebrated Faculty followed by instruction in Contemporary Ballet Repertoire by former Alonzo King LINES Ballet company member Courtney Henry and Contemporary Repertoire by award-winning choreographer and BODYSONNET director Moscelyne ParkeHarrison.

Boys in Ballet: Free Summer Sessions
BBT’s Youth Division is inclusive for all dancers ages 6–21 and includes specialized training for batterie and pointe techniques beginning at Level 5. As male-identifying dancers remain under-represented in contemporary ballet, BBT is offering three free summer classes to encourage boys and male-identifying athletes to experience a dance studio’s contributions to personal physical fitness and self-expression through various styles of ballet, modern, and creative movement. Interested dancers are welcome to attend one or all classes!

Re:generate: Professional Dancer Workshop
Refine your skills, revitalize your imagination, and renew your passion for movement with the next generation of choreographers at a new week-long intensive, Monday, July 7– Friday, July 11 at the Berkeley Ballet studios. Designed to connect professional dancers with choreographers to collectively explore “what’s next” in the field of dance, Re:generate will be led by five Bay Area-based choreographers: Babatunji, Robin Dekkers, Colin Frederick, Ja'Moon Jones, and Moscelyne ParkeHarrison.
