Youth Division: Uniform
BBT’s Youth Division uniform aims to provide apparel choices for dancers that reflect ballet in the now. Highlighting the range of body type, skin tone, and musculature of the dancers in a cohesive aesthetic that allows the faculty to clearly see the dancers' body, technique, and physicality.
Dancers in Introduction to Level 1 through Level 4 must own Ballet Uniform A.
Dancers in Level 4 through Level 9 must own the Ballet Uniform B, Modern, and Contemporary uniform.
Dancers are expected to be in uniform for every class and rehearsal. We ask all families to have their dancer fully in uniform by the second week of classes. If your dancer is waiting for uniform components to arrive, please let us know.
Traveling to & from classes: BBT requires dancers to wear clothing over their uniform when traveling to and from the studios or theater as well as around the neighborhood on breaks. Please remove any uniform ballet shoes or socks and cover bare feet with regular shoes, and wear clothing over all other uniform components before exiting the building.
Hair: Dancers are expected to wear their hair in a bun, or neatly off the face and neck for all classes, rehearsals, and performances unless otherwise instructed. Dancers have many different hair types, lengths, and textures, so buns, braids, twists, or any other updos that make a dancer feel confident and proud of their classwork are welcome. Please ensure that there are no loose pieces. Dancers may not wear ponytails, hair down, or partially down for class or rehearsal. Dancers who attend class with their hair undone will be asked to go to the office to have their hair secured for class.
Summer 2025: Dancers should follow the BBT uniform requirements below for all summer programming, but may wear any Black Leotard or Black Tank of choice.
Nutcracker 2025 and Spring Showcase 2026 Performance components: Dancers are required to have specific components of the uniform in order to perform in either Nutcracker or Spring Showcase. Please note these below.
